“We are here for the transformation of being, not the collection of experiences.” – Ram Dass

It is through transformation of being that we align with our authentic selves, or that part of us that is divinely inspired. As we clear away the clutter of cultural and social programming and familial obligations, we begin to tap into the source of our unique essence. In a sense we RE-SOURCE.

Take my short course for understanding how 4 simple elements can change how you relate to life

Balance is essential to living an authentic life. Sometimes life’s demands dictate our priorities and maintaining PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, & SPIRITUAL balance can be challenging. However, if we seek balance over the long-term we open ourselves up to growth while increasing our resiliency.

Below you will find some reSOURCEs for helping you find balance as you realign with your authentic self.

We experience this life through our physical bodies, so it often takes center stage, bearing the brunt of our mental and emotional fallout. When we heal our relationship with our bodies, we have the opportunity to confront internal dialogue that may not be serving us, as well as heal emotional wounds. As we begin to recognize and honor the temple that is our body, we draw closer to aligning with our authentic selves.

The health and fitness industry has become a lucrative business through promoting a convoluted, confusing, and contradictory narrative. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health, I believe there are some fundamentals of health that we have collectively ignored. The majority of them are simple and acknowledge and integrate  aspects of our evolutionary history and the body’s innate intelligence for healing. Below are a few reSOURCES that address how we relate to our bodies.

Our mental health ties into every aspect of our overall well-being. It is our internal dialogue and subsequent beliefs that lay the groundwork for our physical, emotional, and spiritual health. These aspects of our overall health are so closely tied together that it is nearly impossible to address them independently. While the EvoLution Engineer process that I outline and use for coaching is intended for just this purpose, it is only one of many reSOURCEs.

Our conditioning, along with layers of life experience, dictate the internal dialogue that writes the story of our lives. Our mental well-being, then, is commonly a product of an unconscious narrative running in the background. When we seek change, it can be frustratingly slow and seemingly unproductive if we are not addressing the source. Regardless of the approach you take, awareness is essential for shedding light on unconscious thoughts. Below are some reSOURCEs that may help you cultivate awareness of your mental chatter.

The Warrior Heart Practice is a process created by HeatherAsh Amara that helps in understanding and dissecting how our feelings, story, truth, and intent work together. Here is a YouTube video explaining the process and a link to The Warrior Heart Practice book.

Dr. Joe Dispenza healed himself through meditation. In the process he recognized the role our thoughts play in creating our reality. In his book, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, he outlines how to change our thinking at the root. Here is a short YouTube video explaining the same concepts.

Creative hobbies are an excellent source for getting into the creative side of our brain and out of the analytical side of our brain. A creative hobby can be anything that inspires you, drawing your focus to the creative process. While art, writing, or playing a musical instrument are often what comes to mind, creativity can be applied to almost anything. For instance, I love efficiency, process improvement, and organization. I find a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction when I get lost in exploring ways to streamline something. In other words, find something you enjoy and get lost in it!

Meditation is one of the best ways to get out of your own head. The caveat to this approach though is that it takes patience and time. I hesitate to prescribe a specific type of meditation since I believe there are as many ways to meditate as there are people. However, when you are first starting out, instead of trying to clear the mind, it can be helpful to give it something to focus on, even if it’s only for a few moments. It can be as simple as a word or phrase, such as “be still,” or you can use a guided meditation such as Vishen Lakhiani’s 6 Phase Meditation.

Our emotional and mental health work in tandem, each feeding the other information. Just like our mental chatter, it’s essential to break the feedback loop in order to experience lasting change. Fortunately, our emotional well-being isn’t solely dependent on our thoughts. When we can’t get out of our own heads, it’s possible to use the body to shift our emotional state.

Despite the fact that our emotions are intangible and ethereal in nature, they dominate our lives. They directly impact our health and symbiotically feed our mental chatter, they can last a few moments or linger for years. While it may seem that we are at the mercy of our emotions, the truth is, we have the ability to control them… or at the very least, not let them control our lives. Below are some reSOURCEs for fostering emotional balance.

Spiritual health used to mean adhering to and practicing a recognized religion. As humans continue to seek to understand their purpose and place in the cosmos, the concept of spirituality has gone through its own evolution. While it’s meaning still extends to include organized religion, like the word implies, spirituality encompasses the variety of ways humans practice connecting with the unseen world in order to gain inspiration by tapping into a higher power.

While outlets for practicing spirituality in non-traditional ways are becoming more accessible, often, when we don’t align with a recognized religion, our spiritual health can suffer. Regardless of our beliefs, we can always feed our soul through connecting to the aspect of the Divine that resides within ourselves and recognizing the Divine in others. Below are a few simple ways to connect with a higher power.

Community – even if it’s not in a spiritual setting, finding a community or tribe where we feel acknowledged and accepted provides an environment that allows us see the Divine reflected through us and back at us.

Service – We are all connected. When we practice service, even in small ways, through kind gestures, thoughts, and words, we are equally serving the evolution of our own souls.

Prayer & Meditation – Prayer and meditation are how we talk to and listen to the Divine. However someone experiences the Divine is unique to them, and maintaining open lines of communication with a higher source helps us to keep from getting lost in the drama of the world. There are many ways to pray and meditate, but there are no rules. All you need to do is start the conversation.

Grounding or Earthing – Gaia, or Mother Earth, is one way in which we can experience the Divine in physical world. She supports every aspect of our physical existence and connecting with her is essential for good health.

Energy Work – I consider energy work to be spiritual work as it is energy at its most fundamental level that is derived from Source Energy. Energy work comes in many forms and it’s important to find the modality that resonates with you.

Despite the fact that we spend our lives living with ourselves, we are often as unfamiliar with ourselves as we are with others. So much of what motivates us and inspires us is closely tied to what holds us back. When we seek to do as Socrates suggested, and “know thyself,” we take the first steps along the hero’s journey. It is through knowing and accepting our whole selves that we heal our wounds and share our light with the world. Below are a couple of resources for understanding yourself at a deeper level.

Human Design combines ancient sciences to produce a blueprint for how we process energy based on our time, date, and place of birth. Even understanding basic elements of our charts can provide profound insights. The more I understand and explore aspects of my chart, the more compassion I have for myself and others, as I realize my ability to consciously construct the story of my life through shinning light on my shadow and embracing my gifts.

There are numerous practitioners that bring their own flavor to Human Design. Below are a few of my favorite resources.

The Five Personality Patterns (Select “The 5 Patterns” drop down menu) were developed by Steven Kessler and delineate strategies we adopt for coping. Each strategy has both gifts and limitations, depending on how we use them. Unlike Human Design that describes personality traits based on our time and place of birth, the Five Personality Patterns are adopted during childhood in response to our early experiences. Here is are videos explaining each of the 5 Patterns and here is a link to the book.

While I have grown to love reading and have more books than I have time to digest, I have limited this list to the few books that I feel provide simple, actionable input for  experiencing change. However, I encourage you to feed your curiosity with any book that speaks to you. You never know when you pick up the book that will change the course of your life.
