A New Way of Relating to Food

How we relate to food is one of the many ways we can tap into how we respond to our own personal evolution. Our internal dialogue regarding food is a link to a treasure trove of beliefs and rules that unconsciously impact our lives.

Often, when someone uses the word “diet,” what is brought to mind is any number of prescribed ways of eating intended to promote weight loss or achieve some other health objective. “Diets” generally consist of a set of rules outlining what one can or can’t, should or shouldn’t eat.

What if you could define “diet” as they way you normally eat, the way nature intended? Instead of thinking in terms of can or can’t, what if eating healthy supportive food was simply a way of life for you? What if you understood what your hunger was communicating to you? Is Your Internal Dialogue a Friend or Foe

Most of us have at least some idea of what foods are good for us and, even though we know we should eat them instead of reaching for a bag of potato chips, all too often we end up succumbing to the sweet and savory processed foods that are so accessible and often marketed as “healthy.” (Read about the 65 Names of Sugar here) When we eat this way, it takes us down a road of emotions that perpetuates the cycle:

“I feel so gross. I can’t believe I ate that much. Next time I’m just going to put some in a bowl so I don’t eat the whole bag. Tomorrow I’ll do better. Tomorrow I must do better. There’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to get my eating under control. My pants are getting tighter every day and I can’t afford a new wardrobe…”

The internal dialogue goes on and on.
